Passo della Calla

I’ve always been drawn by the Casentino area, and since I was twenty, especially during snow season, I've always tried to organize an excursion. The destination I prefer is the same, Stia, with its beautiful square, the historic trattoria Filetto and the casentino factory, a beautiful fabric, unique and extremely elegant especially in its typical orange shades.

But the real destination is Passo della Calla, here when it snows the scenery and the road become very special.

Often there is more snow here than at the Abetone, although this is not a ski area. There are a couple of ski lifts but certainly it can’t be defined a proper ski destination.

This is a place where people play with snow balls, where kids get to know the snow the first time and learn to ski.

Ski-mountaineering here it’s beautiful, the track reaching Monte Falco, the only one that I know, offers breath-taking sightseen and it’s quite easy to cover.
